Progress, sort of

I am still up in the air about which song to use. The more I listen to them, the more I change my mind. Very frustrating. Worse, now there's another contender to deal with, "Only an Ocean Away" by Sarah Brightman, which I like best of all except for the fact that it has almost nothing to do with the movie. That's a bad thing.
In any case, it has come to my attention that both Dust in the Wind and Deliver Me will need some tweaking, audio-wise, to be usable. This will be my next step in that I hope it will help me decide which is going to be the best choice. If neither of them work out, I may end up defaulting to Ocean, simply because I find absolutely nothing in need of tweaking about it.
After this, I'll map out my song and get going on some scene choices etc. Good luck, me! I'm going to need it!

Well this is new.

While I'm not sure how interesting any of this will be, since it's here I might as well as use it, right?
My unfailing determination (some call it stubborness) to conquer territory otherwise too daunting to behold has led me to two things: Web sites which attempt to assault my computer with porno cookies and all things AMV. The latter being more to my taste (not to mention the reason I was at those other Web sites), I've latched onto the nutty idea of fanning the flames of my Vampire Hunter D obsession by making an AMV the likes of which has never been seen.
If I'm lucky, it will be seen, and if not, well, hopefully it will be no great loss.
Status: Songs down to three choices - "Deliver Me" or "Dust in the Wind," both by Sarah Brightman, or "Dark Night of the Soul" by Loreena McKennitt. I have facilated between all these songs so much that it's not worth explaining. After consultation with my "production assistant" (heareafter referred to as PA), who has not yet seen the movie despite all my screaming and begging, "Deliver Me" currently has the lead.
To aid my own thought process and clarify matters, here's a running pro/con list:
Deliver Me
Pros - The music itself works, matches the movie, has enough variation to be interesting and offers opportunity to be creative. The lyrics can easily be understood in relation to the movie's characters. The song has not been used by anyone else, but may be somewhat familiar to people. It is a good length, no chopping necessary. The themes strongly reflect what I had in mind for this AMV.
Cons - The introduction will have to be tweaked/lengthened. There is not much room for creativity where matching lyrics to the movie is concerned - I doubt I'd be able to tell the whole story. I would probably end up tapping into already well-used scenes, as well.
Dust in the Wind
Pros - Familiar lyrics/song. Offers a chance to tap into an underlying/not-so-obvious theme in VHDB and play up the drama of D's character.
Cons - Rather short, very repetitive, would rely heavily on scenes to tell the story.
Dark Night of the Soul
Pros - Almost perfect, in terms of lyrics matching the movie. Good chorus, music fits well.
Cons - Taps mostly into the movie's love-theme, which I did not want to do b/c everyone else has already done that. Rather long and dependent upon matching scenes to make sense.
In retrospect, I still like Dust in the Wind the best, just because it takes a very different route than most other VHD AMV's and would be the simplest to execute. Deliver Me offers a different kind of challenge, though.
Next step: Work out the plotlines for each and consider the relative difficulty of what I am aiming for. It's probably best to start out simply (duh). In that respect, Dark Night of the Soul could be what I'm after. It'll give me a chance to learn as I go along without getting too caught up in fancy stuff.
