  • Next AMV May Be a While 2005-10-17 02:21:52 Well, my second AMV may take a while. Like sometime next year.

The music I have chosen seems a little more complex than I first thought. For example, there is two distinct rythms occuring at the same time. Its even worse that they take turns with priority (at least to me). I might end up taking a very technical approach to synching.

The amv will also be MUCH heavier in effects than my last. This will be noticable from the very beginning. At the same time I need to remember to not overdo the effects. I remember a quotes on the forum mentioning that the best effects are unoticable or something.

My lazy azz has yet to close out the last video and secured the hd space for making this next one. space will be important since I will be requiring quite a few different clips for this and that.

some scenes in my footage are a little different from what I remember. But many of the scenes will work. (even if I have to force them)

Considering that my first amv took 3 months with editing, I'm not surpised that this next one will be a while. I'm more concerned with the end result than how long it takes. So I apologize way ahead of time for those of you who wish to see my next vid.

  • 2005-10-03 03:32:23 Sigh, its 3:30am and I have work tomorrow morning. Yatta!
I'm still stunned so many people liked my video. Unfortuately, it has risen expectations for my next video. Basically, I should just ignore these expectations and make the video as well as I see it.
The community may like, or they may hate it. It will still be my video.

Looking at how many other videos are using the same music for my next video makes me think I need to look for some less popular tunes. I thought of a good parody to an awa winner this year looking at some of my brother's CDs while at home this weekend. But I seriously need to come up with more unique music so there will be less of a chance of someone doing a combination before I get to it.

I plan to start cleaning my sources for my next video either this week or next; however, I need to watch this series again. I haven't watched it since I saw it on fansubs years ago.

I also need to start learning some AE since my concept is going to involve quite a few complicated effects I cannot do with just premiere. Vegas Video may also be something to look into from what I read on the irc channel.

  • AWA 2005 - I was surpised 2005-09-30 00:30:38 I am currently uploading my amv to Local. Due to its large resolution it is about 60Mb. I tried to make it around 35, but it looked degraded.

I had issues with Xvid's encoder. Around the end of the video there is a fast zoom then black. This caused the player to shift between the last zoom image and black (it flickered). It took me since before the con to realize that it was a codec problem, not the video.

When my video appeared on the screen for "Best Twisted" last Saturday, my body went numb. I didn't really know what to do. I wasn't really paying attention when they were giving instructions. I didn't expect I would win.

I ended up cosplaying as Junpei (or at least attempted) so I could only wonder what the crowd was thinking when they saw this guy in a black leather jacket, swag and a white cover over his mouth to collect the twisted award.

Oh well. AWA was fun like it always is. My biggest concern was I wasted half of Friday doing unecessary sewing to my outfit. I did walk away with a calligraphy frame of my first name, a Nintendo gamepad remote, and the DVD box set of Gunslinger Girls. I can't wait to close out my current AMV material and start cleaning the source for my next AMV.

  • The Send-Off 2005-08-27 01:17:32 I'm currently uploading my first AMV to the VAT at AWA. Yes, I am one of those people who waited until the last minute. You should be able tell by my last post.

Anyway, I actually made an AMV. I so happy. Hopefully it doesn't suck too bad. I have looked at that video so many times I can't tell anymore. There is something at the end though that makes me want to watch again, so maybe I kept my promise.

I'll upload the video here after the convention whether it wins or loses. I would be suprised if I won.
  • Dude, Wake up! 2005-03-27 13:15:37 Arg!

It's been 8 months since I made my last entry (When I first registered) promising to myself that I would persue my AMV ambitions with a little more haste, but alas.

Before today I had 4 good amv concepts floating around in my head, now I may have to cut that down to 3 because 3 members have beat me to it and 1 was actually good. Damn.

.hack//SIGN done to "Bring me to life" by Evanescence will have to be dumped. It wouldn't feel right to post it on AMV.org next to three others. It really wouldn't feel right after watching all three of them either.

I might still do the video just for practice since I am planning to use .hack//SIGN for my debut anyway. The song has alot of little musical quarks that I want to try stacking.

Well, one day, unless all my concepts are dropped, I'll post my first amv here. I promise it will be decent.
