surely one's opinion should be based on how good the AMV is, not what it's source is.
I say this intending to make a Naruto Shippuden AMV in the next few weeks. Just hope it's appreciated.

Now you know why.
This. If you just want to chill, make a Naruto amv, have fun, and share it: go for it. But if you actually want to impress people, be prepared, because the bar's been set through the fucking roof.Kariudo wrote:Elaborating a bit more...Animated wrote:http://www.animemusicvideos.org/lists/usedanime.php

When a series is used a lot, there's a lot more mediocre AMVs than "good" ones (good is, of course, subjective. I'm also not saying an AMV using an obscure series will make it good, just that there's less schmuck to wade through.)
Lots of Naruto AMVs use the same type of music, and use the same scenes, and generally fails to impress as everyone has seen the same thing a thousand times before...so it makes it a lot harder for a Naruto AMV to stand out (and makes it pretty easy to just cast it into the sea of "standard" Naruto AMVs.)
There are some exceptional Naruto AMVs out there, but even if every post in that thread had 5 distinct videos, it would only amount to less than 2.5% of the Naruto vids in the catalog
Moral of the story:
If you want to make Naruto AMVs for fun and for you, more power to ya.
If you want to make Naruto AMVs to impress this crowd, it's gonna be pretty tough (and not so much fun.)
That's a great editing philosophy to have (and one we need more of), many people are so enthralled with flashy effects they forget the most important part is just effective editing and atmosphere.H3L xSHARINGANx wrote:I'll agree that there are way too many bad AMVs based on Naruto. This AMV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlsDK7almu4 is what inspired me. It's simple, yet gets your adreniline going. It's an example of a great AMV that one can actually look at and think "I can do that." All it takes is timing, choice of scenes and a music track that fits.
That's what I think anyway, I've never made an AMV, but I've just started one, which I think is going amazingly well. "/
Edit: my bad, it does use some effects. Same general point though.Vivaldi wrote:That's a great editing philosophy to have (and one we need more of), many people are so enthralled with flashy effects they forget the most important part is just effective editing and atmosphere.H3L xSHARINGANx wrote:I'll agree that there are way too many bad AMVs based on Naruto. Still, the amv catalog is very saturated with naruto vids, even good ones. For instance, several highly popular amvs have been made with the combination you posted (with hell song)
Check out the preview, it uses much faster paced editing, but it also uses few effects. And even that got lukewarm response.
Best of luck, just be warned, you will end up running into cynics, it's the nature of the beast.
