Private Messaging & Outbox

OK, so, real simple: Why is when I send out a Private Message, it goes to my Outbox?

I thought the Outbox was used for messages waiting to be sent and the Sent Box has the messages that were sent?

If it's in the Outbox, the recipient hasn't read it yet. (and you can still edit it)
