Video not loading into Premiere

Post by topgamer101 » Thu Sep 11, 2008 7:21 pm

So I rip the video and then use VirtualDubMod to convert it into .avi type files and segment them into 2 gig pieces (since my computer doesn't have a huge amount of space).

The problem is, the .avi file plays in windows media player, but for some reason it won't load into my premiere elements program and home or the CS3 Premiere at school. Can anyone possibly figure out what the issue is? I've been trying to rack my brain around this for most of the day now.

What codec are you using? If it's DivX or Xvid, they won't work.

As far as I can tell I shouldn't be. I don't think I've ever used those types. However I'm not completely sure cause I forgot where you check to see what Codec your currently using.

Taking a break from this stuff and I forget so many things X.X'

Oh and I use Huffyuv v2.1.1- CCESP v0.2.5 for my compressions. Could that be it? Maybe I need to get a new/different compression?

Huffy SHOULD work.

I don't make clips myself these days. If you are using DVDs, you could try using AVS files directly using the AVS for Premiere Plugin found in the AMV APP Beta or making fake AVI files (what I do) using VFAPIConv also found in the AMV App Beta.

Thank you, I'll try out those options and see if it works.
