Between all of us

Post by Kariudo » Wed Sep 03, 2008 10:42 am

There's a few people here, and between everybody here we must have completed some stupid task/achievement.

So...what have we done?

One person asks a question
Everyone answers
if it dies (no activity in 2 days) and we haven't collectively accomplished what was being asked, then someone asks a new question.

First up:
I have a feeling that between us we have broken more than a few bones.
Would we be in a body cast if we broke all the bones you've broken?

If I get the question right - well, probably not, although all our extremities would probably be busted up. I somehow doubt there's many people here who've had pelvic, spinal or cranial fractures...

Myself, I broke 4 bones so far, with a total of 6 fractures - two in my ankle, and two each between my radius and humerus this year.

The worst thing I've ever done was pinching... something in my back. Not sure what it was, but anytime I did anything that used my upper back muscles there'd be a intense burn, like someone had taken a thick needle that they'd heated to hundreds of degrees, along with a sharp stabbing pain. I've been careful to avoid any activity that'd end in serious injury. Or just never enjoyed playing/working outside and did all I could to avoid it.

i had 2 partial fractures in my pelvis actually from a snowboarding accident. no splinting though, the bone held in place and was not in danger of being misplaced from normal body motions. they gave me some oxycodone though. i didn't use any. i think i gave em away to my friend when he cut his foot with an axe and didn't have health insurance o_O

Sounds like possibly dislocating one of the vertebrae which pinched one of the spinal nerves. Yow! Nasty business, that. My mom was diagnosed 15 years ago with badly worn-out tissue that goes vertebrae, and told by her doctor to never lift anything more than 5lb or so... but the way she dealt with it was not by avoiding anything strenuous, but rather starting carefully directed exercise and switching diet. She's all clear nowadays, apparently that stuff regrows itself - IF you take proper care of yourself.

Now that I think of it, I may have broken a toe before, too, which went undiagnosed. My little toe on the left foot definitely has the wrong shape, and was a nice dark shade of blue for a month after I had a nasty run into a stair while wearing sandals (bloody things). It didn't hurt badly enough or inconvenience me severely enough to go to the doctor about it, but I suspect it probably did get broken and grew back together somewhat off-angle and became mostly immobile (can't move it much voluntarily). Doesn't bother me any, though.

I was really accident-prone as a little kid, but didn't break bones very often (mostly bruises and cuts). I did break my wrist, a toe on at least one occasion, and have had a cracked rib and bruised sternum.

I haven't really had many major injuries in a while, though. The worst was a bruised bone in my hand from playing soccer.

I broke my brother's arm (2 bones... radius and ulna)... does that count?
I'm not rich... I just plan on dying before I retire.
