Trouble with Quick Method of editing DVDs

Post by y2kwizard » Mon Jan 13, 2003 9:15 pm

Hey, all. I'm having some trouble replacing my MJEPEG, low-quality versions of my DVD rip with the high quality AVS file in Adobe Premiere 6.0.

As the guide said, I saved my Premiere Projet, made a copy of that project, and closed premiere. Then I moved my MJPEG avi into a folder called "hidden" and opened the duplicate project. Premiere asked me to try to find the MJPEG avi, and I pointed it to my avs file. Then I got a weird message from Premiere.
Premiere wrote:The media type of the selected file is different from that of the missing or offline file. Press OK to select a file with the correct media type, or Cancel to skip the file.
If I click "OK," it begins the cycle all over again, making me look for the file. If I click "cancel," NO clips are imported into Premiere.

Does anyone have any clue as to how I can get my precious AVI file into Premiere? Thanks a ton!

Umm...it's supposed to cycle. It will ask you for every file you imported into the Bin.

I only imported one file. It asks for the SAME file over and over and over....

that's why AD suggests to TEST the method out before you start using it.

Only thing I can think of is to make a HuffYUV and try that, or edit the video with the AVS from the start.

I never said this wasn't a test...it is. Yeah...well....I guess I can try your suggestion and see if it works, editing with an AviSynth file originally. Thanks for your help!

I'm going to scalp myself

WHAT THE HECK? That method didn't work!

I did the exact same thing, except this time I used an avs file to reference the MJPEG file. I opened up the MJPEG AVS file in Premiere, saved the project, then closed Premiere, moved the AVS file.

WHen I opened Premiere back up, it told me to search for the lost file. When I put in the high quality AVS file, Premiere gave me my original error message. BUT when I told Premiere to look at the MJPEG file, the MJPEG file that was NOT in .avs form, Premiere imported just fine.

What gives? What is it that i'm doing wrong that I am not seeing? This is rather annoying, and I REALLY don't want to edit the perfect quality AVS, now that I've seen how INCREDIBLY FAST the MJPEG codec is.

Thanks a lot for your help!
