what JaddziaDax said, tho i think you should go with masking simply because it would be easier, and look better.

depends how u want it. lowering opacity and maybe fading a bit the edges of the masking could come helpfull. but again it all depends on how you want it to look

actually cookie cutter is easier, but thats just my opinion O:
however masking is more accurate
