alright, well, i was able to rip an entire .vob file over to my comp off of Escaflowne the movie dvd and am currently using tmpgenc for demuxing and multiplexing the .vob file. When i multiplex the .m2v file, it's auto-set to make it a mpeg-2 file. I've tried converting it to a normal mpeg-1 VCD, but there are lines and it's choppy. so, i go a long with the mpeg-2 conversion, great quality. now the problem is that i'm using adobe premier 6.0 which doesn't take mpeg-2 files (I think). So i try converting the mpeg-2 file with this EO Video software that is a free trial thing. It converts mpeg to avi and vice versa with many compression options. For some reason, i can't seem to convert the mpeg-2 file over to an .avi or a certain type of .mpg file that premier 6.0 will accept.
(This leads me into another question of which types of .mpg files premier will accept----I'm a very confused individual)
If someone could help me out on how to use this mpeg-2 file, or tell me how to convert a .m2v file so it's of pretty good quality to use, then i would be greatly appreciate it. thanks.

VOB is a container format for DVDs.
It hold Audio/Video/Subtitles & other neat things that may be included on the disc. When you demux something all you're doing is ripping out the the stream from the file. This is lossless, there is no conversions or loss of quality from the original stream. It's all done digitally.
However! There is no reason to demux the vobs if you want to edit them in Premiere. If you read the guides off the main page you will find many different ways of using DVDs w/ Premiere.
