Post by Songbird21 » Thu Dec 27, 2007 3:00 pm

AUUUUUUGH!!! If I see one more dumbass on youtube trying to say I didn't make my own F---ING videos I'm gonna KILL SOMEONE!!!!

Sorry bout that guys, but I just got done dealing with a total moron who's calling me as "ass hole" & telling me to stop claiming vids that aren't mine! has anyone else had to deal with this crap?? If so, how did you deal with them?

Thanks for the help.

Somebody steals your video and puts it on youtube, then later you go on youtube and put your own video up. to retards it looks like you stole the other video. who cares? Just ignore 'em. they ARE youtube

The best way to deal with it? Ignore it, or be amused by it. If you post your videos anywhere on the internet, you open yourself up for these sorts of things. You can do all sorts of stuff to "prove" that it's yours, but they will still argue against it. I used to try to get people to credit me when I found my videos elsewhere, but after awhile I just sort of gave up. However, I do follow the video, check for comments, reply to questions (because inevitably someone will ask something and stump the poster like "What program did you use to make this?") and that sort of thing.

On a related note, I've noticed a lot of stealing of online handles to try and authenticate the videos uploaded to the tube. Usually spelled wrong, they make entire accounts and transfer our info from the org to their tube account so that it's harder to point out the fake.

So these ones not only take credit for our videos, but credit for BEING us. That's a little bit disconcerting.

That pretty much sums it up.

Besides, if people try to take credit for my work, I'm flattered. If they claim I didn't do something that I did, you could just say to pm your account with the video on a-m-v.org.. that'll shut them up. If they say they don't have to they just know, then they are afraid to be wrong about something and you can just sit back and laugh.

I remember bookmarking this a while ago:
Editors and fans against the misattribution of AMVs

I haven't really looked at it much though.

The only time this happened to me, I publicly asked the 'editor' some intricate questions about the amv; like what their avisynth script looked like, and the field order for deinterlacing the footage. They couldn't answer. It didn't fix anything... but the point is-- anyone reading that that mattered would understand. So I felt better.

You should take an inventory over the worries in your life.

I hate YT I really do. Not just because of theft, but how people get popular on there. Seriously, who gives a shit about your life and why you think the way you do. Celebrity blogs are one thing, but person X from hick town in some backwater state?
