Official Announcement for Vegas Pro 8

Press release

I don't see much to get excited about. The new titler might be interesting. And the price is too high. See the Sony Vegas forum for more info and feedback.

I've also noticed some people getting confused (again) over the different versions of Vegas. Vegas Movie Studio 8.0 (+ Platinum Edition) is the "lite" version and it is on sale now. Vegas Pro 8 (described above) is the complete version and it has not been released yet.

the audio features look good. might give me a reason to stop using Audacity (mixing! oh my!)
Use multiple file formats and frame rates in the same project or on the same track, and crossfade them on the same track roll—all without conversion or rendering.

I'm just hoping for a native 64-bit version. Sony said earlier this year that they hoped to ship a 64-bit version of Vegas by the end of 2007. A new release seems like a good time to implement 64-bit, but I haven't heard of Vegas Pro 8 being 64-bit at all.

two weeks ago I dropped 129.95 and the box said 32/64 but it would not load!
I got store credit but, I'm confused as to what the possible difference should be!?!!

Mhmm... I think they release stuff too fast. A lot of people will stick on the cheap version 6.

.. so far, in the Vista64 AMD 5600+ that I have, only Magix Video Pro 12 $43.99 .. Pinnacle Studio Plus $68.00 and Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus $59.00 are working. Each has its own problems with Vista64 and yet pur's like a kitten on Vista32
Bauzi I think you may be right about releasing things too fast and thank you TaranT I'm relieved that I'm not the only one having problems on this subject

Sony needs to slow down and put ACTUAL IMPROVEMENTS in their software... instead of releasing version after version with minimal improvement...
