Tori Amos AMVs

Post by Madzack » Sun Dec 29, 2002 9:08 pm

How come there's not much Tori Amos AMVs? This Goddess is made for AMVs! So far there's only, like, 2 downloadable AMVs?!!! What, you otakus no Tori Amos fan? Come on, this site can do better than that!

Really, a-m-v.org need more Tori Amos AMVs than she needs Linkin Park AMVs!

Maybe Tori Amos is more trouble than it's worth to use? Her lyrics are so "artistically deep" and apparently so pregnant with obscure meaning that, well, good luck doing anything with them....

Take that one song of hers that was big a few years back, Spark, for instance. Tell me a series that will go with those lyrics. I'd be seriously surprised if there was one with potential, much less that'd work.

Admittedly, I haven't really heard Tori Amos, but I just think she's just too hard to work with musically, and perhaps too artistically pretentious to use. Judging by what your complaint is about, I'm willing to bet other people think the same way.

theres most likely a series out there or a series of clips that would work with certain tori amos songs you just have to look

I tried to make a Tori Amos video to the Ah My Goddess movie, cause I thought I could try to create some lyrical synergy. But what happened is that lots of fans of Tori Amos thought that the video was allright, but the meaning that I thought that I was attaching to the video was quite separate from what meaning I was getting from the song that I used. Tori uses a lot of deeper meanings in her songs, which are interepreted very differently by different people, and thus makes videos done to her music work on a much more personal level. The meanings of Linkin Park songs are right there out in the open, and thus it becomes much easier to make one that appeals to a wider audience.

I think the one for Evangelion with "Crucify" is pretty good. Was good enough for me to go download the song by itself, although I don't really care to get that deep into the meanings of most songs.
The sword, it thirsts to drink of man,
The sword at last must win,
Today is gone, and yesterday,
Must echo in the wind.
