"Your silly web video could land you a job"

Post by TaranT » Mon Jul 23, 2007 1:49 am

AP via komotv.com wrote:Voice-over work in Indiana wasn't too lucrative, so Daniel Geduld ... took footage from the 1980s "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" cartoons, re-edited it and redubbed it to make the evil Skeletor and his cronies into a bumbling gang of losers. Geduld added incongruously peppy jazz by Django Reinhardt, called his farce "The Skeletor Show" and posted episodes on Google Inc.'s You.Tube. ...

Steven Starr, a former talent agent who heads the Web video site Revver, says what he sees emerging is "a creator economy online" whereby the Internet will carve out its own slice of the action, rather than just serving as a development league for TV and film.
The article is about new tech culture, not just the Tube.

I've been thinking about this alot lately. I know of one person in particular who was doing voice overs for a Transformers fan dub project and now thanks to his work online, landed an officially paid proffesional voice acting with a gig as Starscream in the new Transformers Movie video game. This is only the start of his career. He's really talented and I'm sure you'll here his voice acting in alot more stuff.

He's from my home city.

I've been getting to the conclusion while thinking about this alot lately that the Internet is a powerful tool and people can start using it to get discovered with their talents, while with out the internet they may never have been able to share their gift or get noticed by someone important.

Regardless, I just enjoy being creative and having someone to share my ideas with.

If I can get into a radio- and television institute by just making a few AMVs, so can you!

I'm heavily considering it.

I've been getting freelance video editing jobs like mad lately.

You would fail so fucking hard.

Amv's got me into schools where I normally would not been able to get into. So essentially it works for work as well I take it =\
