VEGAS 6.0D help plz

ok im trying to put a scene where u have one scene up, and then u put another one in the background thats sort of translucent, we've all seen them in amv's just putting a still frame or a playing scene in the background but not actually fading into it, because the original scene is sposed to play longer. can anyone tell me how to do it?
