Dark [skinned characters]
Out of curiosity, does anyone know any darker main characters? Understandably, many Japanese have light-pale skin, so logically most protagonists would also have fair skin. I'm wondering if there are any African-like characters that aren't displayed stereotypically, such as a big brute or for comic relief? Indian characters seem to stem into many animes too. Not my intention to sound racist, btw.

i think this belongs in general anime not general amv, unless you are looking for characters to use in an amv maybe
anyway, they arnt common but they do exist, in Revolutionary girl Utena there are 2 indian (i think they are indian, closest thing) main characters. In Black Lagoon there is a black main character, in shaman king there's a bunch of foreigners.

Black Lagoon's awesome, but they stereotype the Afr. American Jackpot, as owner of the strip club, along with a puffy afro and disco attire. Well, is it typical of Japanese culture to be wary of foreigners? I mean, I'm Brazilian, so its natural for me to embrace all sorts of different societies, and its something we see on our television too. Its almost alien for me to just see a whole cast of blonds in just one show. But then, Japan doesn't have a culture influenced by multiple ethnicities.

Arisa Mitaka from 801 T.T.S. Airbats is half black and dark-skinned.Caramel wrote:Out of curiosity, does anyone know any darker main characters?
