Timeline errors

Post by LSJVH » Sat Dec 30, 2006 7:23 pm

When I put a music file on the mucis timeline, I can move it freely across the line. I then cut a part of it that I want, and then add another clip. I cut the piece of the second clip out, and the timeline locks itself, and no clips can be added, and the clips on the timeline are locked in place. Any help?

I'm assuming by clip you are refering to audio in each instance.

I've just cut this up quickly (so don't f#in' hassle me about the song choice).
but you should be able to do this:

The blue bar is from me placing the mouse on the clip left click and draging the music.

Yeah, I used to be able to, but now, when i have a two clips from two songs(audio) the timeline locks up. I thinkm it has to do with a plugin I ised for importing .avi....

are they two different file types ?
mixing WAV and MP3.

Are you sure the program isn't just locking up in general?

I'm pretty sure it isnt locking up, it gives me the circle with a slash in it when i attempt to move it, and one is a .wma, athe other is .mp3. I just uninstalled the lugin, I'm seeing if it has an effect.

I think it's quite likely that WMM simply doesn't allow the two different file-types of music. I've never tried to use two different file types myself, so I've never had this problem, but that is my best guess.
You haven't moved the music since you imported it, have you? WMM doesn't like its source files being moved from their original location. ^^;;;

Be-sweet in the AMVapp file is a program that will convert your audio files into the same file type- so you can try changing the mp3 to wma, or vice versa.
If that helps then we should probably make note of it for future problems in the FAQ. ^.^

Ok, I fixed it. it was the plugin. Mixing file types is ok, but you might wanna make a note that any plugins or codecs associated wth "Classic Media Player" can lock the timeline. Thanks for the suggestions
