how do you get lip sync to work?

Post by Jasta85 » Sat Jul 15, 2006 2:32 am

ok, i am currently using windows media maker (yes, low tech i know) and i have pumped out 2 amvs so far of which i am proud of. i have got the hang of the tool right now and have gotten anction sync done so i'm want to give a try at a lip sync in my amv as well.

question, how would you go about getting lip sync with windows movie maker, the only way i can currently think of is to zoom in as far as possible on the time line, and pretty much try and make seperate clips of each individual mouth movement (some open, some closed) and then string them together to match the words of a song. is this how it is usually done or is there a better way?

you can either do that, or you can screencap frame by frame and mess with it in paint or photoshop. Then import the new frames and stick them in. Which is what is usually done when the person's mouth movement is more than slightly off of the singing so it doesn't end up looking severely obvious.

Lipsync sucks with windows movie maker. It just doesnt give you the frame accurate control that you need to do it well.

The general method I use right now is putting a clip into VirtualDubMod and thinking about the syllables of the word(s) I'm synching... then edit the movement to be like that.

Low-tech and a PITA... but if all you've got is VDM and WMM... it works. XP
