drowning pool usuable again

Post by joevil2023 » Fri Jun 02, 2006 9:38 am

anybody remember them, the badass "bodies" song, torn awayfrom us from the corporation "windup records?"

well apparently drowning pool dosen't like windup records

and is moving away from them

as it was announced on rock news yesterday that while drowning pool is moving away from windup, they are still working on getting a brand new cd out

the big question is, now that they quite windup, will "bodies" be usable again or does windup still hold the title

i know it can go both ways depending both on the bands, the record companies, and the conracts they signed, i was wondering if anyone knew

As can be seen from the title to the original thread, Drowning Pool was never included in the initial ban. A super search on this song reveals plenty of links to videos using it, many of which are available locally. So this is really a non-issue; despite their place on the most-used list (#22), Wind-Up was never really that concerned about Drowning Pool here...though their new label might be.

If Drowning Pool has competent management, they should have negotiated the rights to their back catalog as part of the separation. If not, the title to any music they released on Wind-Up remains with the label, who in most cases will have little obligation to compensate the band -- or, given that exposure will benefit the band rather than the label actively defend their rights to the property. There are some exceptions, but Drowning Pool is probably not a large enough revenue generator to fall in that caption.

The most likely situation is that the band has retained title to their catalog, or transferred it to their new label, who will continue not caring about this site until someone brings it to their attention a la the situation with Evanescence.

It always does when it comes to musical corporation dealings

I guess it depends on who the new label is. I'd doubt that Windup is honestly much of an exception in all senses except that their lawyers got tipped off about this site. Lest Drowning Pool dashes to some hippie label of the sort that I respect, I think the situation will remain the same.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
