So I'm encoding my latest vid (3.5 minutes, 640x320), and my first pass (including mp3) was over 70mb. This seems absurd, even for a first pass.
I used AD's guide specs, which is what I usually do. The problem has come up on both 1.1 and 1.0.3 of XviD builds. Apparently Tsunami Jones is having the same problem. Anyone else know what's going on?

Why, exactly, does it seem absurd?
Depending on the complexity* of your input, 70 megs for a first pass can be very reasonable.
* This, of course, is dependent on a lot more than just resolution, length, and framerate. If the contents of frames change greatly from one frame to another, that'll also do it.
