What do you guys think of Audiovent?

Post by leathelanime » Thu Nov 28, 2002 1:04 pm

You know the Lead singer of the group (Jason Boyd) is Brandon Boyd's brother....you know the lead singer of Incubus. And damn they sound almost alike! I like Audiovent's album (Dirty Sexy Knights In Paris) It is better than Incubus's Morning View but falls short of the Magic that is Make Yourself. I think this bad kicks ass! Buy there album...but you bums are Mp3 junkies arent you?

Not everyone is addicted to piracy but sometimes its the easiest way to sample a band before you purchase a CD you might otherwise only listen to once. I'm all for supporting quality, non pop bands but you cant expect everybody to support every band regardless of preference.

I don't have Audiovent's CD, but I did get to see them live on Monday. They put on a great show. Very high-energy performance on the part of Jason Boyd.

they sound too much like Incubus, nothing new and original.

Also, the lead singer being the brother explains a lot. When I first saw them performing on TV, I thought it was Incubus.

I've only heard "The Energy" by Audiovent, and it's a great song. However, they don't compare in any way to Incubus, which is one of the greatest bands around. I own all their albums except Science (which is one of their best, not sure why I haven't bothered getting it yet). Their live performances are incredible. I saw them at 93X-Fest, the big annual summer weekend show up here. Also, if you want to check out another "Audio" band, try Audioslave. It's Chris Cornell from Soundgarden with Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. If you are a fan of either Soundgarden or RATM, you should try them.

I bought their album solely because I loved RATM but for that same reason I couldnt appreciate Audioslave because I had expectations af them being at least a liitle bit similar to RATM, I cant really tell if the music is good though because of this leaning.
I found that they arent comparable to Rage in the slightest though and I havent listened to any Soundgarden. They lack any of the heavy and a lot of the politics that Rage had, and they are missing the amazing guitar work from Tom which in RATM I feel acted as a second voice.
