Strange codec problem

Post by CHAMELEON_D_H » Sat May 06, 2006 10:51 am

I've formatted about a week ago, and being lazy I didn't installed the codecs and used VLC like allways. Today I came to install the codecs, following the codec guide (as oppose to last times). Problem is, nothing seems to work!
So I uninstalled everything, reboot, install both FFDshow and Xvid (not in the guide, but needed for Encoding). still nothing. I check with zoom player (options > system) and it sees the codecs, but stil wont play anything but MPEGs. Codecs are seen by Gspot , but still wont render a preview.

Out of wits, so here I am... please help...

maybe you should try installing divx too.
don't know if it would help any though :?
...maybe you should try getting a new media player and see if the problem is with your VLC (personally I use winamp...but I've heard that media player classic is good)

VLC works fine. its every other program (incloding WMP and zoom player) that have problems.
