Hotel Rooms at Conventions

Post by Xarathion » Thu Mar 16, 2006 12:01 am

Ok, so I'm still sort of a newb when it comes to conventions. Having only attended one (Animazement '05), and then staying at a friend's place.

Generally, for the typical convention, should I try and book a hotel room early if I want to stay in the same hotel as the con? (if it's in a hotel, that is) Do they tend to fill up fast and you all discover that you have to lodge in another nearby hotel?

Any input is appreciated.

it really depends on the con from what I've seen myself. I usually try to book my room at least 3 months before the con. Some of the larger cons sell out quicker, while some of the smaller ones don't and vise versa. I find a good rule of thumb is to get in early with your reservation.

Just remember, at many hotels having a reservation for a type of room doeasn't garuntee you that type, you still have to check in before they are all gone.

generally, yes they do fill up very fast.

in my experience at anime conventions, getting a hotel 1-2 months in advance may be too late.

try to get your hotel just as soon as you know you will be attending the con
