effects for a slow amv?

Post by James Sharp » Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:36 am

I have been on my newest project for a while now. and one of the bigest problems that i am having. is finding proper effects for my video. im using the song "Your beautiful" by Jimmy Blunt, and its a slowish song. the space im trying to fill is the space inbetween scene changes cause i get alot of snars in there. and i dont really wanna use the snares for the scene changes because i feel that would throw the vid speed all of.. its a slow song it needs slow transitions. so if anyone has any pointers about good effects to thow in and stuff that would be great. and if you have any pointers on when to synce the scene change that would be great. because its like im always getting sucked into syncing at drum beats. witch i dont wanna do.
Close calls are always the most exciting. Coming close is always the most dissapointing.

My newest vid:

I welcome any and all advice on how i can improve

Ha, Weed... It's funny 'cause I know exactly where that is.

Oh, anyway, it's kinda tough for me to give any helpful suggestions cause I'm having difficulty visualizing what your looking for. When I think of "slow transition" I, for some reason, imagine a 5 second long "Star Wars" swipe. I guess the real problem is making it not look cheesy. The one suggestion I might toss out here is to take stills of the video so you don't have to worry about erroneous motion during the transition. Maybe focusing on characters, a situation, or even playing around with B&W might be helpful. But I guess I'll never know until you try... Good luck.

Try the <s>Addictive</s> Additive Dissolve. I saw it used rather effectively in a dramatic video just a month ago.
