This time I TRULY need help.

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Tue Feb 07, 2006 12:48 pm

I have bad news, and this time I truly need help guys.. :(
My computer abandoned me, I'll be completely unable to edit for a long while, if a miracle don't occur, so I'm quite frustrated about all this. ;( At least, I'm able to connect to the internet, with my laptop. The problem is, that this laptop is a Macintosh. Men I would have never imagined that a Mac could have been so troublesoming, since it's sponsor is "It's too easy to use." The thing that I would like to ask to all of you is: Do you know where can I find something "like FFDshow" for Mac? I mean, is there any way I can play videos here? My OS is the 10.2.3 Version. Thanks in advance to everyone. =)

*sadness* ;(

Well, Macs are easy to use, but different from PC's. So they will comfuse you at first (one ussually thinks they have to do more then they really have to).

Here's some players .... Now I hope you are on atleast a g4 .....

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/v ... layer.html

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/win.html

and the org's GUIDE (the most important place on the org for anyone who want's to play videos on any comp):

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... ayosx.html

Also, make sure to update you softwear ... this option is found under the apple symbol in the uper left had corner of your comp. :D

Any other questions, just ask for I am a lifetime mac user .....

Thanks truly a lot for the support. :D I'm happy to know that you're a Mac user. =) Believe me, I'm truly scared about this computer, and so I'll probably make some stupid/noob/ridicolous questions.

First of all, thanks a lot for the links and the tip you gave me for the update! Yes I have a G4, the OS is at the old version 10.2.3, following what you said me I ended up here:
http://www.apple.com/it/downloads/macosx/

There are the updates for the System, but once downloaded, what I have to do? It's like a .exe for a PC user? It's a normal installation kit? :)

if you did it though the Update softwear thingy, then it should have said there are updates, if so then it will install after you click ok .. (It may ask you to agree to terms and the like and restart the computer (for OS updates) but that is it, the program will do it for you).. you don't have to extract the stuff yourself.

I see the link you sent me ... You won't need to do it through the web site. Go to the apple in the corner, click on it and pull down to Update software .. then it will do all the updates you need for you.

If you use the website, then it should be a normal instalation program.

Boy, I think we should just PM each other. lol

You won't be able to upgrade to 10.4.x so don't DL it. You need to own 10.4 tiger to do that, so use the softwear updater and you will be ok.

Sorry for all the posts, I just don't want to srew you up ... lol
