Kero server not there...

Post by Ninja_nia » Wed Dec 28, 2005 8:04 am

I've been having problems with uploading. I don't understand why though. I've been doing everything.
I'm clicking the "Upload" link and it's not showing me the "Kero" directory. It says:

"This page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable."

I assume it's my computer just can't upload anymore. I've done it before and it's worked. I don't understand why it won't work now.

have you enterd new video infromation yet?
what browser are you using?
I'd like a little more information, like what part you're stuck on, any error messages you got, if you have a firewall, if you have any Norton products.
This should be enough to help me help you

-Yes. I have entered the new video information and everything.
-I'm using the Kero server.
-I don't have any Norton Antivirus products, but I do have a firewall. It's not a very good one so that's probably not the problem.

The "Kero" Server just seems to be off line every time I try to upload. I've never had this problem before when I tried to upload my other videos.

Here's what it tells me when I upload:

FTP FOLDER ERROR

Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed in the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.

Details:
The connection with this server was reset.

Everytime I go there it does the same thing: it pulls up the "This page cannot be displayed" screen. If I refresh that screen, if gives me the "FTP Folder error screen".

I still can't upload my video.

It's probably my computer.

There's usually a limited time frame to upload, right? Perhaps you missed out on that because of a computer issue and now can't upload from anywhere...

Have you tried contacting the site staff at all with your problem?

If the upload timed out, you'd get a message about an incorrect username/password, not connection reset.

Connection reset sounds like a firewall issue. Perhaps you need to turn on passive mode in your FTP client?

???

It couldn't have been timed out because I uploaded the video as soon as I input the information for it. I do that with all of my videos. This one is the only one that screwed up.

I don't quite understand what a passive FTP is. Could you explain what that means to me, please?

Passive FTP, from a technical standpoint, is described at http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1579.html and referenced RFC's.

From a user standpoint, its a checkbox to find in your FTP client's preferences somewhere.

Maybe...

I've thought about the Passive FTP and I still don't quite get it all together what the functions of the program is supposed to do, becides the fact that it transfers files from one computer to another. I have however thought of a solution to my problem. Tell me if you think it might actually work.

- Open up a new account with a new name and password.

It might just be my account and password that doesn't work for this system. I have previously tried to upload a new video up here and with another computer. Not my own. It still didn't work.

My guess is to just open up another account. I won't do it yet though. I don't want to waste space opening up another account and dealing with them both.
