How to use the Rezise Calculator

Post by Ray Stanz » Thu Dec 08, 2005 9:49 am

I found A&E´s rezise calculator in the AMV app but I don´t really now how to use it because there are three sizes: Video Frame size, source frame size and target frame size. Target seems to be the size for my AMV but then I don´t know what the Video frame size is for. And why does the size cause errors ?

That's source and target pixel aspect ratio, not frame size. They're very different.

Video frame size is the frame size of your input. Source and target pixel aspect ratios are the pixel aspect ratios of your source and target display devices, respectively. The target size is listed next to the slider.

As for size causing errors: that's probably a side effect of Java's internationalization code that I never got around to fixing, mostly due to apathy.

So how will thouse errors look like? Something like parts of the frame will have for example much pixels verticle but still each pixel horizontal so they will look streched? And does frame size now mean the size of the DVD? And footage size, the size of the video I ripped and then target size is the size that I want to have for my final AMV?

Nothing. The errors I described are string -> integer conversion errors.

If you aren't experiencing those errors, I'd like to know what errors you are experiencing. As far as I know, the resize calculations being performed by the calculator are as accurate as its inputs, but it's possible it may be off.

Size of the frame that comes off the DVD, yes.
And footage size, the size of the video I ripped and then target size is the size that I want to have for my final AMV?
I don't know what "footage size" is: that was never coded into the calculator, nor is it a term in the equation. The only two sizes involved are the source footage size and the output size you want.
