Okay, this is basically what I've come to the conclusion of:

1. People love Soap Operas

2. Professional Wrestling is a Soap Opera, but for guys.

3. Dragonball Z is Pro Wrestling with bigger 'splosions, and as Americans, we love dem 'splosion.

And just as a side note, when they're "screaming," they're performing what's called a Kiai. In eastern culture, it's believed that one has an aura made of Ki (or Chi); by performing a Kiai, it's believed one can make their Ki more powerful during an attack (this is why Martial Artist yell during attacks); by saying the name of then attack in mid-kiai (like shouting "mehn" "teh" or "doh" in Kendo when attacking an opponents' head, arms, or stomach respectively), it's believed to further increase the attacks power and focus it for a more accurate and devastating hit.

I think it's so popular because of its accessability. It's not that hard to find episodes of DBZ, on tv or otherwise. Also, it is advertised a lot, so people know of its existance because of how often it is advertised in mainstream media.

shiny.....

anyway, DBZ is the most mindlessy destructive show allowed on tv, and now there showing it with its original violence, better music and tougher dialogue they're now gonna make even more money from the DVD's because every hardcore fan bought the first set of videos when they first came out......talk about cleverly evil , im actually suprised it(and FLCL) didnt go on UMD yet.

We love it cause were comforted by the fact, we aren't the only ones who scream really loud just before taking a huge crap.

We love it because it quenches our thirst for animated violence, and it's a gateway drug to more animated violence.
