making amvs [ripping dvds]

i was wondering if anyone knows how to download dvd clips onto a computer. i have had trouble with this for a while, im using windows movie maker, and it doesnt mention anything bout downloading clips, so wat program do i use?

God I am retarded duh windows...go to the software forum or use google and type in dvd ripper...

You can rip dvds by downloading this: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video ... rypter.cfm but that's only as far as I've gotten.
