Yet another weird windows movie maker moment.

Post by Osakaisthebomb » Sun Oct 23, 2005 5:09 pm

I just finished my lastest music video and all I have to do now is save it as a movie file. But now It won't work. While it's in the process of saving the video it will stop on 57% completed and the "time remaning" goes up instead of down.

try exporting the movie in multiple small segments with a high bitrate profile, such as the dv-avi option. then concatenate the segments in avisynth and render the script in virtualdub.

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... setup.html will show you how to do this process with one exported movie. the difference with exporting multiple segments is that you'll need to concatenate the segments by entering: directshowsource("nameofyourvideo1.wmv", 29.97) + directshowsource("nameofyourvideo2.wmv", 29.97) + directshowsource("nameofyourvideo3.wmv", 29.97) ... in your script.

oops meant to post this link - http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... xport.html

instead of exporting your entire timeline in one shot, export like the first minute, then the second minute, then the third..

after they have been exported, you can combine them together using avisynth scripting. avisynth is a scripting environment can be downloaded as part of the amvapp software package available here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... mvapp.html

to learn how to use avisynth, see http://www.avisynth.org/index.php?page=YourFirstScript

I'm sorry but the "using the DV file" seems like it could help but I have now idea what it is talking about. I need a "Dummies" version of the instruction. Also I have WMM 5.1 so would that be any different?

the dv file is an AVI video file compressed with the DV codec. the DV codec uses a high bitrate compression, so you lose very little video quality from the compression.

the screen shown in the export guide is what you'll see when you click "file/save movie file..." and save the video to your hard drive.

the export guide is meant for windows movie maker 2.0 or 2.1, which is what you're referring to by wmm 5.1 (5.1 actually refers to the xp build). if you're not familiar with windows movie maker, click here: http://amv.dwp.filetap.com/wmm.htm

no, you don't understand. I have no idea what all this DV codec is or how to do what the page tells me to do. Some friends of mine said that it was probally some kind of protect code from the video which i got off a dvd. when I say i need "Dummie" instructions, I mean step by step "Dummie" instrutions. I'm sorry that i'm so helples.

I was going to trying making it three parts and the putting all together as one but you i couldn't because I have titles all through the video.

to all intents and purposes, a codec is something that makes files smaller than they would otherwise be without the codec. it's not about information protection. all you need to do create a video file that is compressed by the dv codec is to click "file/save movie file..." then select your hard drive, select a file location and name, click the "other settings" button, and then choose "DV-AVI" under the drop-down menu. Then click next and it will create the movie with the DV codec.

second, you should be able to segment your video around the titles, so that cutoff points fall between title clips.
