Calling all Final Cut Pro Users
Ok. I have been using a Mac for a few months now, and I have been having a lot of trouble. Not just because I cant figure out what is wrong, but that I cant find any AMV members who use Final Cut Pro.
So this is a post up for all the people on the org that uses Final Cut Pro. That way I will know who to ask for help.
Anyway, I also have a problem with my clips. I manually drag the vob files of my clean DVD ripped clips into Final Cut Pro. But I cant see to get rid of the interlacing that I see in the Preview monitor. The interlacing stays there after exporting and after compressing via ffmpegx. Is there any way to get rid of these blended lines so I can continue to work on my projects?!

are you sure this is a final cut pro problem?
try it with another video editing prog like premiere and see ifyou see interlacing with premiere, if you do,
look at the way you ripped the footage off, any way to take off interlacing? should be able to..
and if not, check your dvd source, maybe stuff is already interlaced there.
i am no final cut pro user, but this is the best advice i can give -_-

Well I am not a FCP user, but I do use Final Cut Express. I am be able to help you some. But I know LantisEscudo and Kionon but use FCP.
So are you ripping the DVDs and then using the VOBs to edit? That my be your interlacing problems right there. Try using a program like DiVA or MPEG Streamclip to convert your VOBs into something else and in the process you can de-interlace your footage. I would suggest MPEG Streamclip because it is fast and real easy to use. DiVA can also de-interlace your footage too.
This should help you some.

You should probably convert the vob's to quick time movies then import them.
There is a de-interlace filter in Final Cut Pro... though I doubt you'll want to apply and render it to everything (I've mostly used it on stills captured from video- if they remain interlaced, they tend to jitter when watched on video- you wont notice this on the computer, only video monitors).

On my latest video I used the Motion JPEG codec. Yeah the MOV will be larger then the VOB, so what I did was picked out the parts I wanted with QuickTime Pro, and then deleted the rest of it so I could save space. I kept the VOB incase I needed it again. This site has some info on codecs for the Mac. I use to know of a better site but I lost it. Maybe this site will be some use for you for finding the right codec.
