I need help with downloading plz. [video playback problem]

Post by Seripa » Mon Sep 05, 2005 12:14 am

It's like this, I've been trying to download videos. Some work...and some don't. The ones that don't work just show up as audio with no video, and my windows media player says there was some sort of error. Plz help me. If it helps at all, the media player is a 9 Series.

You need the right codec to play the videos. Chances are, the video will tell you what it was compressed in, ie. Xvid, DivX, etc. Try downloading and installing FFDshow. http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow

This will most likely solve your issue, if not, find out what codec you need to play those particular videos, then download it.

what the other guy said should be right, but just in case that didn't work try downloading Real Player (the older version is free) and see if it works on that. i used to have the same problem with windows media player because it can't play those kind of files. Real Player can.

Ack! Real Player is evil bloatware. All you need is VLC and/or (most likely "and" if you want to skip through a video and actually see all of it all the time) Media Player Classic.

There should be a big thing that says "DOWNLOAD FFDSHOW" on the front page of org. It solves all video problems.
