DV500 MPEG2 support issue

Post by ErMaC » Mon Oct 28, 2002 6:44 am

OK, strange to see me asking a question here in the forum eh?

How many people here have a DV500 and have tried using the MP2 import in the v4.0 drivers with real DVD source? I talked to Quu and he said with the new drivers should be able to do the same thing the DC1000/2000 do, just not in realtime.
I ran the ValidTC program on a demuxed M2V stream to add the timecode, and then I opened the file in Premiere. While I could scan around the file, there were bad frames every 5 frames or so where the macroblocks were totally visible and messed up and I don't know why.
Has anyone done this successfully? If so what did you do? Otherwise I'll just stick to AVISynth, but the seek times on the pinnacle plugin were great but the video quality in general was lacking but I suspect it has to do with the same thing that's causing the screwed up frames.

hum.... I will have to look at this when i get my machine back...

I know that on the dc1000 there was not wierd frames...

the m2v file... was it a 19.97 mpeg-2 or was it a progressive one that had the pulldown flag enabled?
Lead me not to temptation, for I have deadlines

DVD2AVI reported it as 80% NTSC so I would just say it's almost definately a 29.97fps stream. No pulldown flags as far as I can tell.

Sorry I can't help, but I have a DC1000 and have the same problem. I finally started using AVISynth to get it into premiere and the export clipped frames to a pinnacle AVI. On second thought maybe this will help.
