Bad huffy and premiere pro.

Post by DinaDani » Wed Jul 13, 2005 4:46 pm

My first AMV is almost done and all of a sudden all my clips, which is prepared in HuffyYUV, turn out bad in premiere pro. Previewing my amv shows all kinds of black, horizontal lines. Exporting my video in Huffyyuv (ignoring the bad parts) doesn't do much except just copying the errors with it.

Now I've looked in the tutorial and there's a part about this kind of problem. Link: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... pixellated
The main way to get around this is to look for an option in your video program to forcibly recompress the footage upon export.
is where my problem lies. I have no idea what the writer meant with this. Looking in export options I only see an option to always recompress or to recompress in certain areas. No matter what options I chose here, it didn't make much of a difference. Does anyone know if there is an option in Premiere Pro to forcibly recompress as the writer advises me to do?

p.s. When I started on my project, some of the earlier clips I used (also in huffy) had the same problem. Ignoring it, the next day these corrupt lines were gone. I ignored it all together but now that I've completed my first AMV, it's coming back and I have no idea what to do now.

Two suggestions:

1) Is the "Always suggest RGB mode for output" box in the HuffYUV codec options checked? If not, check it.

2) Black horizontal lines sound like interlacing... what happens if you change the Field Order setting in the Project Options to "No fields (progressive)"?

The option "Always suggest RGB mode for output" wasn't checked. However, I re-encoded my AMV with the option on and the horizontal lines are still there. The "no fields (progressive)" was already enabled. I don't think it has something to do with interlacing, however. The guide states that it's premieres inability to work with huffy.

Anyway, I followed the next step of the tutorial, frameserving my AMV to Vdub and encoding from there. Now frameserving works like a charm, if not a bit slow but that's to be expected. However, when I frameserve and encode my AMV with huffy in Vdub, the horizontal lines are still there. Encoding with Xvid in Vdub produces the same results. So that didn't work either.
