you gotta be kidding, spike? no way is he the best fighter, i say takateru suga is probably the best fist fighter i seen in an anime but your question seemed to be about fighting games not fighting people. anyway yes i have noticed alot of anime style characters in fighting games but picking the best one is hard, i know super smash bros melee isn't really a fighting game but it is. and i'd say shiek, not zelda but shiek is the best fighter in a fighting game, now if your talking conventional basic fighters and don't count super smash bros. i'd tell you ein or jan lee from doa3, definitly ayane but spike? no. no way is he a good fighter compared to most anime fighters.

Seeing as how basically American game companies can't make fighting games that are deep enough to keep of with Japanese fighting games, yeah, all fighting games are definitely gonna be Anime style.
I think Capcom Vs SNK 2 and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike are two of the best Anime-style fighting games ever! Virtua Fighter 4's probably the best 3D fighting game ever!
Jann-Lee from the DOA series is one of the coolest Fighting game guys ever! Shin Akuma from the Street Fighter series (that's ALOT of games) has got to be the coolest Anime-figthing guy ever! He's the coolest in Cap Vs SNK 2! Ken is cool too!! So is Ryu!!! And Sakura! And SNK's Yuri, Athena, Mai, and Terry! Ibuki from SF3:3rd Strike is really cool too! And even though he's not in a Capcom fighting game yet, Dante from Devil May Cry is another really cool Anime game guy!
