Tsunami Mpeg 2 encode problems...
I've followed two different sets of encode parameters trying to figure this out. I have a fully registered version of the latest software. I've searched their help forums and faq's but can't find the answer to this.
When I encode to mpeg2 (I need/want this for an archival copy) it works perfectly all the way through 100%. Then the file plays perfectly all the way through to the 3:55 mark. then it crashes.
I don't think its a limitation of the windows media player or the computer as both play the Pinnacle DV export from adobe fine which weighs in at 906 megs. while the mpeg2 weighs in at a slim 255 megs or less depending on settings.
Ermacs guides don't cover mpeg2 and I've tried Patrick (Quu's) mpeg2 encoding tips in his guide for video game footage. but both have the same outcome.
any help would be great.

the only thing I could think of is that TMPG has a slightly faulty MPEG-2 multiplexing engine, although that usually only affects playback on dvd players. You mentioned that it stops at 3:55, how long is the whole thing?
Try encoding the video and audio separately (or if it takes long to encode, demux them in TMPG's mpeg tools) and play them separately to see if this is a fault in the video stream, the audio stream, or the multiplexed program stream. If they playback fine separate, try muxing in bbmpeg (you can find it on doom9's software page) and see if it works better.

ok.... exported again for safety sake...
MCI Player = won't play it at all....
Windows media player = crashes at the 3:45-55 mark.
Intervideo Windvd= plays it perfectly no problem.
winamp = doenst' like the whole "mpeg2 thing"
since intervideo plays it ok I think its fine... but I could be horribly wrong.
anybody know for sure?
