Serious Premiere Render Problem -

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Sun May 29, 2005 7:39 am

This is a problem I had many times, especially because I never understood it completely, here it is the problem ->

My computer have installed:

-Premiere Pro 1.0
-AmvApp 2.0 (WithOUT FFDshow)
-Divx 5.2.0

And so for the amvapp also Xvid 1.0, now, the problem is..

When I import a video on premiere, (with stardards or not project specifics, I saw it don't matter), the clip on the Project window show the file (or files) like this ->
http://galeon.hispavista.com/judychan/img/prempro.jpg

Putting it on the first (source) monitor, the anime or the video is shown perfectly, the things change when I put it on the timeline, when all become black (audio is anyway rederized, it is possible to hear but not to see the video).

I absolutely need to understand Why this happen and what can I do for a possible solution, Thanks a lot in advance to anyone that can help me

which codec did you use to compress the video?
Why did you keep the audio into the video files?

Codec to render -> PicVideo M-JPEG VfW Codec (purchased =)

About the audio, since they are fansubs ('cause here in italy there aren't still dvds of that anime =P), the audio is withing them as complete episodes.

Hum first you still can kill the audio in your video in vdub (audio : no audio) or vdubmod (stream > disable).

About the codec, it seems that this one should be recognize perfectly by premiere (and in the timeline as well), but zotto has a similar problem concerning the fast recompress or normal recompress (so YV12 or RGB).
I don't remember if there is a such option in pic video but you should try to force YUY2 or RGB output, i'm sure there is way to change this parameter and maybe this should fix up your problem. Try it and lemme know if that work.

Sorry for the horrible sequence of posts but I have an important news.

I converted (compressed with Huffyuv) with VirtualDubMod a clip form one episode, the result is that premiere now read that input, but I have some questions!

- Do I lose quality converting in Huffiuv?
- Should I use avisynth for something in this compression?

It's important all this I hope someone will be able to help me ^__^

Sounds like you have never read the guides :?

Just for your 3 first posts : premiere "prefers" play RGB files than YUY2/YV12 files, and i think that was your problem.

Now regarding your lasts questions :
1/ huffyuv is a lossless codec (don't need to explain more i hope)
2/ NO (virtualdub is for compressing your video, and you should have to try avs to improve the video quality by filtering the footage).

Mike, plz READ THE GUIDES :!: :P

The problem is that I read the guides :| Is my fault don't understand them! About this problem, that is the unique that any guide never helped me to resolve >.< Guides are actually my gods xD Anyway, thanks a ton for the (great) help you gave me, I'll see how to filter my episodes (if they need to) for clean quality. Thanks a lot :o :D :P
