Adobe Premiere, why does it take so long?

Inter-frame compression means that, on some frames, only the differences between frames are stored -- it means that not every frame is a keyframe.

You can set DivX/XviD to make every frame a keyframe, but it's easier just to pick a codec like MJPEG, RLE, or HuffYUV (if your computer can play HuffYUV files back fast enough).

Anyway, Premiere Pro does not allow you to change your preview codec midway through a project.
Premiere 6 and earlier should have it in the project settings, under video or something similar...

aight, i may have it fixed now, idk wahts up but i noticed that the files were mpeg2 SVCD, so i reconverted them all to mpeg1, and then i did a test run while playing WoW, and i came back and it wroked perfect (besides that i put the clip over a smudge left) . so maybe it was somethign to do with the mpeg2s? idk, but as long as its fixed i should be fine, ty for all the help! (ill prolly be back soon =P)
