What?

How did that link help me...?

I've watched AMV's, but my friend, AtomX told me some AMV's are different and that I need a certain software to watch those different AMV's...and I was just wondering where I can get that link...or download...

Thanks for the effort...

Well, you could try reading it. Then do what it suggests.

If you have playback issues, it's either because you need a codec you don't have, or a format demuxer you don't have.

To figure out what it is you don't have, take a look at the properties (extension, FourCC code...) of the video file you can't play, and follow the link Scintilla provided. Navigate to your OS, and read the provided information. Chances are, you'll recognize some of the info yuo just saw in the problem file's properties, and will then know what you need to install to get it to play.

If you can't find exactly what you need in the guides, there's also another tool that's of good use in this sort of situation. It's called "Google". Just type in the extension and/or FourCC of the file you can't play, along with your OS, and dig through the search results until you find the right codec/demuxer. Just beware non-open-source "freeware" and "shareware". Some is great, but a lot o fit comes with "other" stuff you'd be better off not having on your computer. Hence the beauty of looking first to the AMV .org Guide, before wandering about the rest of the Internet in search of what you need.
may seeds of dreams fall from my hands -
and by yours be pressed into the ground.
