Strange....AVS files dont want to go in Premiere!

Post by TeclmmlEd » Sun Mar 27, 2005 6:50 pm

O_o Well i was making some AVS files and when I was done I imported 1 AVS file in Adobe Premiere Pro. Soon after I made my 2nd AVS file and tried to import it into Premiere Pro and it said "The file does not have any media in it"(something like that) Well all i know is I cant get more than 1 AVS file in Premiere Pro.....Umm i have all of the plug-ins as well so i dont think its a plug in problem. Anyone have any idea?! P.S. This problem also happened with my Premiere 6.5 -_-

That hasn't happened to me...I can usually get 3-4 AVS files going at once without trouble. It's saying "no media"? Maybe there is something wrong with your second .avs script, then...
Life's short.

Try adding a setmemorymax(20) or something to the top of each AVS file.

I'm pretty sure they said it'd be twitchy at best. And in case you may not know this, any version of Premiere will not have native support for 23.976 FPS editing, so check your FPS in Vdub.

Highly recommend Vegas as it's mostly bullshit free as far as I've used it.

Personally, I've found Avisynth is more often than not more trouble than it's worth. Maybe it just hates some people and likes others...

OK...

Calm down, stop with all of the extra exclamation points, and learn the difference between "sight" and "site".

Now that you've done that:

Please post the scripts you're using.
Please post the version of the plugin you are using.
Please post the exact location of the plugin, or plugins if you have multiple versions running.

Please do this without hyperbole.

That is only true for those who don't know how to use it, or are not willing to understand its power. The only arguments I've seen against usage of AVISynth are "it's too hard", which is not an argument. Procedures that are "hard" invariably become "easy" (or, at the least, "less difficult") with enough practice, especially in video editing.

In short, it seems unfair, illogical, and unfounded to blast such a great tool just because it uses a different paradigm.

It's not so much that it's too hard that I've come to dislike it so much as I find it to be fickle. I've managed to do some pretty cool stuff with it before, but there have been more times than I can recall where I've taken and copied scripts that worked fine for other people just to find that they bomb on me, make no mention of scripts I've written myself that worked perfectly when I wrote them just to stop working when I revisit them months later to tinker about with an idea.
