Ecoding Mode Problem with Xvid in Virtual Dub

Post by Hoyle00 » Sun Mar 20, 2005 11:46 am

I've had this problem before which i fixed but had to format my computer so i don't know how to fix it now. I got the latest Xvid codec from Doom9, but when i go into Virtual Dub, Compression, Xvid, Configure I still get that old Configure window with only 3 options for Encoding Mode

(Single Pass, Twopass-first pass, Twopass-second pass)

any help is greatly appreaciated

Uninstalling xvid before installing might be an idea.

OK here's a question for you. How many options were you expecting? xvid only *has* those three.

Ok well when i click on Configure i get a new window, it's not the same looking window as what it shows on on any Xvid/Virtual Dub guides on the net it has...

Main Settings (Profile @ Level, Encoding Type, Target quantizer)

Zones (Add, Remove, Zone options)

More (Advanced Options)

Apparently in the Encoding Type I'm supposed to be able to choose 1 pass DBR, I don't see it at all.

Xvid doesn't have a 1-pass variable bitrate mode. In single pass mode you can do either constant quantiser or you can press the "Target quantiser" button to change it to "Target Bitrate" for it to do an average bitrate mode.

k here's a link
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/xvid-guides.htm

see the third picture as you scroll down, it says Encoding options, well my window doesn't look like that, I've been told the one i see is an old one.

then the guide describes a list of 6 or 7 options, my problem is I don't have half of those options and I can't follow the guide because the window isn't the same.

Try my guide, it shows pics of the entire window:
