Using non-explicit hentai clips
Now, I'm well aware of what I can and can't use in AMVs as far as explicit sex and violence. If I didn't I'd be a fool for not familiarizing myself with the guidelines.
However recently, I got an opinion that told me that it was a bad decision to use clips from certain hentai in my latest video. I used clips from La Blue Girl, Sex Demon Queen, Words Worth, etc. The op told me that the problem was that those hentai contained rape and other "f***ed up" things, and that this content can disturb people. The person's only argument for why they should be in the video was because "they **** every five seconds" and that the only music truly suited to such hentai are "sex songs and rap music." I feel that's unfair.
However, I feel that there's absolutely no problem, since I didn't show ANYTHING explicit from these anime. Moreover, they're all anime that I really like and felt they had a place in the video.
*sigh* Okay, the song I used in the video was "Cartoon Heroes" by Aqua and the video was basically about heroes in anime. And most certainly, characters like Miko Mido are heroes, regardless of the fact that they're starring in hentai. The genre of anime is irrelevant, correct?
Yes, we've gotten to the point where we're exchanging editing of our comments back and forth. Of course, this person has a right to their opinion but I feel I should defend the hentai I love that has a rightful place in a video about heroes. What do you think?

Wow, you're in a pretty bad position here, Reanna. I do have to agree with you though, that certain characters from even hentai could be seen as heroic, and thus shouldn't have a problem being in the video. I think if someone in particular doesn't like hentai-related characters being in the video, then they should go elsewhere, but it just sounds ridiculous, considering how there is no hentai footage in the video. They're anime characters. Shall we only comdemn them to non-stop sex AMVs? I feel bad for you here, but it's going to come down to what each individual thinks of hentai and it's place in AMVs.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using content like that in a music vid as long as it's censored just look at the Nasty Girls of Anime vid and Madbunny's (hilarious) vid Obligatory Boobies Video which really isn't that revealing it's just the content it's based on. So go on, reveal all (just as long as it's censored).

Actually, that's the funny thing. I didn't even show any nudity that needed to be censored. You see male rear nudity twice, and only one of them is from hentai. The only clip that's censored is the Photon clip, and that was part of the actual anime-- and not hentai at all.
Fungie .5: The way I see it, I'm not so much in a bad position as in an obligation to keep arguing my point, which I enjoy doing anyway.

I read the comment you talked about, it was just a rant, he had nothing intelligent to say about it. Don't let what people say bother you, there's nothing wrong with making AMV's the way you want to make them.

Think of it this way: if you didn't show the objectionable stuff, the only people that will know what is actually in the show will be the ones that aren't really that phased by it. While this guy did mention that there are "fucked up things" in it, a person that would be mortified would more than likely not know too much about it.

I agree. This sounds like one of those people who says "Oh! This is terrible! I better watch all of it just to make sure of the horror!" He/she got something out of it, or else it would have been stopped and ejected/deleted immediately. Like I did with Night Shift Nurses.

Life's short.
