I tried EVERYTHING..! I don't find the way to compress it

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Tue Feb 08, 2005 7:57 am

I finished my last amv, and I realy can't get it: Why can't I go under the 100MB?

I tried with the TMPGEnc, and it actually go to 70Mb of disk space, but the quality is something horrible. In my desesperation I tried WMM and it go under the 50MB, but it is nearly unwatchable if I compare it with the result that I am searching..

I tried DivX, Xvid.. And with this last one I tried using the 1st and the 2nd pass, exactly following the guides I tried everything for compress this video. But nothing.. With Xvid it go only at 192.986 MB

If someone can help me please I need it!!

I am not one of the experts here, but i used VDubMod to compress my last amv. It REALLY made a difference.

When using XviD in 2-pass mode, you can specify a target size (or target bitrate) on the 2nd pass.

Have you removed interlacing and cleaned up the video?
Also, have you tried resizing to a lower resolution?

Miky maybe you used a LOT of effects, I noticed it last time, while I was doing my second amv that with a massive use of effects it gets more ram to elaborate the project, more space to compress it and so on. (I am talking about Premiere), I know that you use it. My suggestion is to follow the guide of Absolute Destiny, who suggests to compress in xvid for 2 times, if u get an over 100 mb file the first time.

Anyway Turn Msn On, Maybe in Italian I can be more useful and helping in real time is way better

I can't wait to see your new Amv, hope I will like the song this time ;)

I know this thanks a lot! But as a target I putted 41128 kb (40MB) and it don't change a bit. 192.986 MB without a kb of difference. ..>_<

I completely removed interlacing but I will try the thing of the resolution thanks^^

I have to say that I cannot put the video in square pixels, because of the use of Keyframes.. It destroy all my work. So I work in 4:3

The amount of effects it is not an overwhelm but is sure that in nearly everyclip is possible to notice a lot of keyframes.

I done it! I can be in wrong because maybe I made an error, but when I used the same 192MB file and tried to compress it (even if I tried the 1st and 2nd pass on the original 2,75GB one) the dimension didn't changed at all.

Omg miky I see you are answering but my msn DOESN'T WORK. I am going to restart the computer right now... Anyway, how big was the amv before compressing it? I mean the footage completed, uncompressed and still uncleaned

I know this.. mm.. But I don't know after how to add it to the video. If I should quit it on the fist footage to compress.

Audio compression:

In VDubMod, go to the Streams menu.

Go to Stream list.

Right-click on the audio stream, and select full processing mode.

Then right-click again, and select compression.

Here, you have to select how you want to compress your audio. That's our call.

Omg my Cowboy bebop was about 4.0 gb and with just a compression came up to 70 mb,

Maybe you should do this, do the first compression without adding your audio, then before the second compression use nabdub as the guides suggests (I guess you can do this teorically)

In my opinion you did some mistake in the 2nd compression, because it is not possible to get the same size space with the second one

Anyway I did not use yuffiyuv to export the footage, I used pegasus mpeg lossless codec... Try it instead of yuffiyuv
