Video size to large
I am following A&E video guide and i have everything done for my video, but my file size keeps coming out to large. I have done the first pass in the xvid code and my file comes out to be around 150mb. The guide says that if it is to large then i can do a second pass and say what file size i want. After i put in all the information required, it still comes out to the same file size. If anybody can help me figure out what i am doing wrong it would save me days of frustration. Thank you.

What number are you putting, exactly? Is the text saying "target size" or "target bitrate"?melrose wrote:After i put in all the information required (...)

Same problem as me.
Look, I still have this problem but I'm trying to get off of it.

OK this is definitely weird. I suggest to "reset" xvid by clicking "load defaults".
Then, just do the minimal configuration needed:
- encoding mode: 2pass - second pass
- 51128 for target size
- advanced -> VHQ4 if you want maximum quality (slow!)
And done. Close xvid's config, tap f7 (assuming virtualdub, I hope I'm right) and save. It just has to work.

The same issue happened to me last night, but after a few tries I managed to get the 2nd-pass encoding to work normally.
You can try this solution:
- Reset xvid to defaults (as sysKin suggested)
- Encode a short video. For the 1st pass, create a new stats file (eg. c:\test.pass)
- For the 2nd-pass, use the built-in bitrate calculator. Enter a very small number for the filesize (it should not overflow.)
- Encode 2nd-pass and check the bar graph. If it's working normally now the frames should be distributed within the area of larger quantisizers.
