Love Hina Dubbing, THEY ARE ON DRUGS!!!!

I was happy to buy the dvds, i'm currently replacing/compalmenting all fansubs with dvds as they are released. I'm use to the Japense true, true but i didn't realise how annoying the dubbers are and how the Dubbing cast is paid with booze because THEY ARE RANDOM BUMS OF THE STREET
Somehow they managed to get 'Blanche' from 'A Street Car Named Desire' (Deep Southerner accent, its a well known play. i did alot of drama ) to voice act mitsune. WTF!
Still love my dvds, just watch it with subtitles because i don't know japanese. (something about coffing up blood all over my japense work and scaring the crap out of the teacher with the blood capsuel so never being allowed in the class again. I was evil in primary school)
Wondering, are the Japaense voice actors just and crap but i don't realise because i don't know the language?

No, the regular vboice actors are pretty good. I agree that the dub is on crack, though.

Mitsune was given the voice of a southern belle. Note to dubbers... Kansai dialect DOES NOT EQUAL SOUTHERN ACCENT!!! I can not stress this enough! MITSUNE IS A PARTY ANIMAL!! NOT A FUCKING PLANTATION OWNER'S DAUGHTER!

They made Suu-chan sound like a DAMN INDIAN!!! SUU IS NOT FROM INDIA! In fact SHE'S NOT FROM ANYWHERE NEAR INDIA! If you've read the Manga, you know that she's from a weird Pacific island. NOT INDIA!! Just because the residents of the inn first guess at her being Indian because of her skin coloring, she is NOT INDIAN! Christ...

And then last but not least, Keitaro sounds like A TOTAL LOSER!!!!!!!!!! True, he is kind of a loser, but he's supposed to be the misunderstood failure, not a total failure. I am SORRY, but for a show that has the kind of situations that LH has, I can't take them seriously at all with this dub cast.

It's the same thing as Sailor Moon. I will never watch the Sailor Moon dub... But I will ESPECIALLY never watch the dub of the Sailor Moon S Movie. I do NOT want to imagine Luna, using her british nanny voice, in the romantic role she is in for that movie! IT WOULD NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I'm all worked up.

A word of advice... Never listen to Beefmaster in the matters of dub or sub. They didn't teach him to read subtitles in school.

And no, I don't hate all dubs, just a good 98% of them! If they would actually do a better job on dubbing, I MIGHT LIKE DUBS BETTER! GEE, WHAT A FUCKING CONCEPT!

So, question Garylisk, what does the Kansai dialect equal? The Boston accent? Jersey? Wisconsin? Surfer? Tell me. And who knows, maybe that wierd island in the pacific was originally colonized by an Indian ship gone astray. Does it specify in the manga who colonized it?

First. The Kansai problem. I am not sure if boston would fit either. More or less, it's a less refines, more gruff, kinda rough around the edges dialect. Sadly, if it'd be anything, maybe Ebonics But agian, I don't think I would like Mitsune speaking ebonics any more than the southern accent.

Secondly, I enjoy plenty of dubs. Beefmaster hates my cuts appearently just because I have good reasons as to why I don't like dubs. He will stick up for dubs always. I on the other hand find the following dubs to be quite well done:

Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Gundam Wing
Tenchi
Lain
Dragon Half
Excel Saga
Galaxy Fraulein Yuna
Project A-Ko (1)
Giant Robo
Akira (Original and new dub)
Irresponsible Captain Tylor


My list is not limited to those titles, that's just the first ones that came to mind.

Again, take it from someone who doesn't prefer dubs or subs, just prefers QUALITY! (That being me) - The Love Hina dub is HORRID! The DVDs are of course still worth buying since the show is that damn good.... but I just can't lie and say the dub is good. It's not.

Third. The Suu problem. Actually, it didn't say who colonized the island. It could have been colonized by Indians, but given that its location is southeast of Japan, it's not likely. I would think it to be more Indonesian. Maybe even just darker skinned orientals (Much like the Koreans, Japanese, etc...) In any case, Suu lives in Japan and speaks Japanese. In fact, she speaks with a Kansai dialect. Since the dub makes it that everyone in Japan speaks English, she would probabyl have a similar accent to Mitsune. (Which I would hope is not Southern Belle or Ebonics.)
