DAT files arent exactly mpegs. They are slightly different.

If I recall correctly, I remember using a program about 3-4 years ago called VCDGear which could convert between them.

trust me, you dont want to import dat or mpeg files into premier unless you know what your doing what your doing isnt full scale editing. best to read [ur=http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/] the guides [/url]

check vchelp.com/tools or Doom9, look for "ReMpeg" and "VCDGear"
-- both will turn your DAT files into useable files - for Primiere and VirtualDub's

Can't you use TMPEGenc's MPEG Tools to take the VCD stream and mux another one with a new header. Making them more like regular MPEG1 videos?

wouldnt the easiest thing to do be to change the extention to .mpg , then open the file in vdubmod , mute the audio streams and then export to huffyuv ?
