MPEG2 playback slow...

Post by Castor Troy » Thu Aug 05, 2004 4:27 pm

Ever since I installed Doom 3, my MPEG2 playback has been slow. I have an ATI Radeon 9000 and I had to install the latest drivers to get Doom 3 to work but are those responsible for my botched up Mpeg2 playback?

Anyway I can fix this before resorting to a system restore? Thanks.

Well, I fixed it.

Although Doom 3 won't look as good anymore, but just as long as it's playable....

Wow, those modified drivers not only let me keep my mpeg2 playback, but now lets me play doom 3 on medium settings! :D

Thanks!

no worries :D

oh and, ya might wana try overclocking your card a bit to. ati has their own overclocking and tweaking utility called ATI Tray Tools. i managed to overclock my radeon9600se from core324/memory202 to core382/memory260(520mhz ddr) stable. and all ive got is a heatsink over my gpu. no fan, no nothing els. just remember to run the 3dmark01 or 03 game benchmarks over each incrimental speed increase (for example, i increased the memory and core speed by 6.5hmz, ran rdmark01 or 03 to check that thier werent any graphic errors. once they started appearing i went back an incriment, and everything was fine).
