Song Selection in Search Options?
I don't know if it's ever been mentioned (And it might be worth it, to me it would).
But i'd like to see a song TYPE selection in the search options (I.E: Pop, Rock, Emo, Classical, Country, Rap, Etc), it might take a bit of overhall on older videos (or it could be for those just entering videos if people dont wanna go back and mess with it).
But it might help filter out what kinda music you might not like, for instance, I don't like country, but I wouldnt know the bands names if I struggled so how would I know they're country (unless it's in the video bio, which it seldomly is)?
Just a sugestion.

Yeah, this was mentioned once or twice before... I think the main reason it wasn't done was because people have different definitions of music genres.
Even using something like freedb, people would search for something and get something they weren't looking for or didn't want to exclude.
Some stuff is pretty clear-cut (rap, country, classical) but it gets trickier with rock, techno, and even some pop.

Just have some MAIN selections, then do them by the record labels name.flint_the_dwarf wrote:Yeah, this was mentioned once or twice before... I think the main reason it wasn't done was because people have different definitions of music genres.

For example.
Ac/Dc - Rock
Styx - Rock
Paul OakenFold - Trance
Yellowcard - Emo/Pop
Saves the day - Emo
The starting line - Emo/Pop
Reba Macentire (sp?) - country
Just your main stuff you could enter, by the record labels classifacation of what it is (which you can easily find on a store's site such as target, walmart, best buy, etc).

If you thought about it for five seconds, it'd make sense.Voices_Of_Ryan wrote:I love you and your sense for making senseless posts :(.trythil wrote:Yeah, so was my post.Voices_Of_Ryan wrote:I like Oakenfold, and btw, it was just an example.trythil wrote:Oakenfold is not trance.
Oakenfold is crap.
:P
Here's some hints. It really ties in with Flint's post, actually.
Let's say I make a video and I think it's trance. Not Oakie trance, but some crazy hard-acid-trip stuff. I classify it as "trance", as it IS trance, and let it out for the world to see.
Someone else comes in with some other preconceived notion of what trance is. They don't like trippy acid tracks. They find this video and go "oh wow this might be neat".
Whoops, your system just fell apart, as it just failed its purpose.
