Blind Guardian

Post by Bote » Sat Jul 31, 2004 1:37 pm

:o Damn, this is a really foeckin' good band. I've dlded 3 songs ("Mirror, mirror" , "Punishment divine", "Mordred's song") and I'm really hooked. The vocalist simply gives me goosebumps. Not to mention a hard and powerful guitar riffing and fabulous drumming. Can anyone give me advice what to look for next? Which songs to check out, which album to buy etc?

I'd do what I did, and start with Imaginations From the Other Side or Nightfall in Middle Earth (preferable if you're a Tolkien fan). Then go for Somewhere Far Beyond if you're looking for something more similar-sounding, or A Night at the Opera if you're looking for something a little different. It's their newest, and I like the drumming a lot more. Plus it has "And Then There Was Silence" (their 14 minute ballad about The Iliad).

For individual songs, I'd say "Bright Eyes," "Noldor," "Precious Jerusalem," and "Nightfall" are my favorites (aside from the beauty of "And Then There Was Silence," of course :P ).

You can wait for Nailz too, since we generally have different tastes.

Personally, I've only really enjoyed A Night At The Opera since that was the first album I ever heard from Blind Guardian. A Nightfall in Middle Earth is exceptional but it has never clicked with me.

I'd follow Flints advice. Blind Guardian is the only band we agree on at all. :D

Though for individual songs, I'd go with I'm Alive, Curse of the Feanor, Hall of the King, A Past and Future Secret, Quest for Tanalorn, Welcome to Dying...

screw nailz in the face

Nightfall is a must
I recommend - Thorn, The Soulfored, A Past and Future Secret, Bright Eyes, Battlefield, Age of False Innocense, Lord of the Rings, THe BArd's Song, The Curse of Feanor , Lost in the Twilight Hall, and if you think you're ready for epic jizzle on your face, then go for 'And Then There Was Silence'
after that, feel free to check out all the rest, it's nonstop Blind Guardian goodness in your face

/end
Oh how convenient. A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope.

Which is why I don't think anyone should start with A Night at the Opera.

Blind Guardian is a very good band.

Recommended songs: Noldor, Nightfall, Script for My Requiem (pesonal favorite), Bard's Song - In the Forest, Soulforged, Battlefield, Valhalla, Majesty, Curse of Feanor and Imaginations from the Other Side.

Very good band with some very good songs.
