Predessor to Ultimate Muscle?

Having played the Ultimate Muscle video games I got kind of interested in the series. But I realize alot of the really cool characters from the games are "Legends" meaning they're main characters from the original show and have next to no part in the newer series. I want to see the original show but from what I understand it was never released over here. Does anyone else know for sure?

BTW, yes I am aware that most people on this board don't give a rat's butt about this series but I don't know where else to ask.
