Otakon (2004): Japanese Music Video showings... and stuff

Post by dji » Fri Jul 16, 2004 2:13 pm

FYI for those who care... the japanese music video showings are back again this year ( for Otakon 2004). There are 2 showings on schedule; check your Otakon 2004 schedules and guides for the exact location and times.

The first is on friday. The plan is do to something special for the friday showing. Then on saturday it's a brand new volume of work for 2004. This year (for the satruday showing) we're leaning more on the J-Rock side of music, however we still have some good J-Pop videos too. You don't want to miss this years showing.

[Friday] (3pm - 5:30pm)
Best of Red Apple JMVs

Description:
This year we're trying something new for the "best of" ...the best of Red Apple Productions Japanese Music Videos will be in the hands of the audience. You the audience will get a chance to choose the subtitled J-Pop, J-Rock, and Visual Kei music videos you watch. Plus some never seen before videos from Red Apple Productions.

[Saturday] (12am - 1:30am; technically sunday morning "I think")
Japanese Music Videos

Description:
This year we have a fresh new volume of subtitled Japanese Music Videos! Come and see that there's more to Japanese music than anime theme songs. Come see a selection of J-Rock, J-Pop, Visual Kei music videos and more! Don't miss out on this year's JMVs!

NOTES:
Check your convention schedules for changes.. you never know if the times change. The times I listed are what I know about for the moment.. but it's possible they might change.

Now, I know the Saturday/Sunday morn showing is pretty late.. The Otakon staff placed this in the schedule to avoid any conflicts with the L'Arc~en~ciel concert and cosplay. As I'm told, if the cosplay let's out earlier then the showing will start earlier. We're providing 2-hours+ of material regardless.. even though we're scheduled for 1.5 hrs. As far as I know, the cosplay and the Saturday showing are not in the same locations.

I also know Saturday night/evening is party night (for most) and well that's in conflict.. with the late-night showing time.. at least I know it is for me.. ...but we'll be there anyways!!! ..you know can always pre-party.. take a break for some Japanese Music Videos.. and then go back to partying afterwards ..anyhow.. I hope to see you all there at both showings.. In case you're interested to know the reason it's not on schedule to 2am, is because I'm told the convention center closes at 1:30am... in case you cared.

For those who have been to these showings and are planning on coming.. Thanks for your continued support and interest! ..and those who have never been.. to a "Red Apple Productions" JMV showing.. please come and see what it's all about!

Okay.. is that post shameless enough for you?

Oh one more thing.. this year.. we were asked to do a panel.. and it's all worked out now. So we're spear-heading the J-Pop panel. I will have a few things to give out. So come.. and enjoy! Discuss! See and experience, what j-pop and other j-music genres are like.

Learn about J-Pop, see and hear examples of the music genre and how it seperates itself from the other japanese music types. Where is the J-Pop world heading? Will there ever be a crossover for it in the USA? Come see, hear, experience and enjoy a discussion about J-Pop.
